The short version

Chess Opens doesn't collect, sell, or share personal data. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking cookies, on this website or in the Chrome extension.

The web trainer

The trainer saves your practice progress (stars and run history) and your preferences (board theme, sound, arrows) in your browser's local storage. That data stays on your device. Clearing your browser's site data for Chess Opens erases it.

The Chrome extension

Your extension settings (the openings you chose, how many moves to show, and similar preferences) are saved with Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync. If Chrome sync is turned on, Google syncs those settings between your own browsers;Chess Opens never receives them.

On Chess.com pages, the extension reads the positions of the pieces on the board so it can highlight the next move of your opening. That happens entirely inside your browser. Nothing about your games, your account, or the pages you visit is recorded or sent anywhere.

  • storage permission: to save your settings.
  • Access to chess.com: to draw the highlights on the board. The extension does nothing on other websites.

Hosting

This website is served as static pages. Like any web host, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested) for security and reliability. Fonts are served from this site, not from a third party.
